Planet Coaster is getting ready to ride

Shortly after this years E3, Frontier Developments took the wraps off Planet Coaster. There's was little knowledge of the games existence prior to the formal announcement, and screenshots are still hard to come by showing actual gameplay. There's certainly nothing we can publish, but there are 4 screenshots over that the games new official website. The announcement was met with little fanfare, despite the trailer they debut at the show which we have below.

To anyone who has played RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, this game will look similar - It's the same developer who made RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 before they split from Atari. The game looks to be a sequel to the now 11 year old title, with a revamped graphics engine and greater level of complexity in park and ride construction. We expect fans of the genre will be familiar with RollerCoaster Tycoon World that Atari currently have in development, and the continued delays and developer changes underway. That title is very incomplete, and their forums show an outpouring of support over Frontier's new title.

The game is available to pre-order now from their website, and starts at £20. You'll need to spend £50 to get access to next months beta however. We'll be tracking this game's progress very closely, and for the first time in 11 years fans may finally get the sequel to the game they have been waiting for.

The game releases to PC in 2016.
